The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai on Friday reacted to reports that he has been appointed as the director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council of Bola Tinubu.
El-Rufai on Friday night denied being the DG of Tinubu’s campaign council.
The special adviser on media and communication to the governor, Muyiwa Adekeye, in a post on Twitter, said his principal has not been appointed as DG.
The Kaduna State Governor, while speaking in a live media chat on Wednesday in the state, also denied the report.
Adekeye wrote, “Malam Nasir @elrufai has disclaimed reports of his appointment as DG of the APC Presidential Campaign. He also denied during his live media chat in Kaduna tonight that he is working with other governors and party leaders to help set up the national campaign structures.”
There had been claims in some quarters that El-Rufai had been appointed as Tinubu’s campaign director, while the former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole was named as the chairman of the council.
Tinubu is hoping to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his tenure in 2023.
The former Governor of Lagos State would be contesting against the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, the flagbearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and several others.
